Apple Festival - Ellijay, GA

Today, we went to Ellijay with our friends Wes & Tina Duncan. Every year the hold a huge festival in honor of the apples. The leaves in the North Georgia Mountains weren't quite the color we had hoped for, but that didn't matter. We all had a great time.

After the festival, we went on a search for an apple orchard so we could get our own bags of apples. We found one place that had not only an entire grocery store full of hundreds of bags of apples, but they also had an orchard where you could go pick your own apples. I INSISTED that we get our own off the tree, as I have never done this before. I found the perfect apple, and of course it was WAY on top of the tree. SO. I climbed up the tree, with a little boost from Mattie, and I got up there to get my apple. I was so proud.

After the apple orchard, we went to go to the Pumpkin Patch, but it was REALLY busy. So we bypassed it and went to Fort Mountain. After almost 20 miles of very windy roads up the mountain, we finally reached the top and got out to look. It was a short walk uphill to the very top, but once we got to the top, it was all worth it. The view was AMAZING. You could see for miles. The elevation was about 2000 feet, and it was a lot colder up there than it was at the apple orchard. We took pictures and laughed for a few minutes, then made the journey back to the car.

With it being so cold outside these last few days, I felt awful leaving Teddy outside. He is too small & doesnt have enough body fat to keep him warm outside. So we left him in the house with his tennis ball and bed. When we finally came home after being gone for almost 12 hours, he was so excited to see us that he couldnt hold still. But he ran outside to go potty like a good boy. We checked in the house, and couldnt find any evidence of destruction. So I feel better now. I know that we can leave him in the house alone while we are out. Now he doesn't have to be outside all the time.
We love and miss all of you very much!! Everyone get out and enjoy the weather while it lasts!!
Take care...

So Friday I had my 3 wisdom teeth pulled out. YOUCH!! So the past almost 48 hours I have been out of it and in some pretty serious pain. But thanks to my wonderful husband, pain killers and sleep, I am slowly making progress. I have gone through 3 pints of KFC mashed potatoes and I don't think I will ever eat them again after this week. Lol.

This is a very short post tonight.. I will probably make up another one this week. I don't have to work until next weekend. So I will have lots of time. =] But now I am tired. I took my meds a while ago and now I am super tired.

If you decide to try our Chicken Salad, let me know how you like it!!

We love & miss all of yall.

So far I haven't done very well on updating this blog regularly. Didn't take very long did it!

It is now August, and I cannot believe that Matt & I were married a year ago this month. It seems like only yesterday we were running around like crazy trying to get all the last minute details together. Now, here we are in our own home with Teddy, a new car, great careers, and a love stronger than anything. I would have never imagined this is where I would be when I turned 22. I couldn't ask for anything more. I enjoy every minute of our time together. We can get up at any hour of the night & decide to go where ever we want. We remind ourselves daily that it won't be like this for long. One day we will have little Mattie/Amandas running around & our 3am adventures will cease. On the road anyways..we will have new adventures with children! But that day will someday bless us..for now, I will continue to enjoy the precious time with my husband.

Last week we had to take a trip to Rome, Ga to get Matt's patrol car worked on. Later that evening we were meeting Wes & Tina for dinner in Rockmart. While we were waiting for dinner time, we went to a nearby park and enjoyed the nice weather underneath a few walnut trees. We took lots of pictures..everything from tree trunks to a Coca Cola painting. The only thing we had to worry about were ants. We always manage to find the ant hills, no matter where we are. But we had a very relaxing afternoon together. Then we shared a delicious steak at The Frontier Restaurant in Rockmart. Later that night we went to Calhoun to visit Tracy & Stephanie. We watched Madea Goes To Jail and I took pictures of her cat, Racket. We got home finally around 5am.
Well it is time for work.. hopefully I will get to another post tomorrow or Tuesday.

I love & miss all of my family & friends..

Our Adventure

Yesterday we went riding the county. I've not seen much of the rural areas, and Matt only sees them at night. So we figured it would be fun to take a Sunday drive..on Thursday.. But we went to Hardin Bridge and took pictures. They are going to tear the bridge down soon, and I've never been so off we went. Matt played around with his camera and Teddy sniffed around while I just watched. It was hot, but not too bad. Just muggy really. The joys of Georgia.
Tonight we are going to meet Dano & Kim for dinner in Canton. I can't wait!! I miss them like crazy.
Oh. I got new tires. Yay. =] Now, I'm going to take a nap. I've been up since 5!! Ugh. Sorry this was short, I really just wanted to put up the pictures.

Stormy Weather & Venting

So. It's another stormy afternoon in Georgia. I had to sprint downstairs to let Teddy in, and just as I got him in the bottom fell out & it started raining really hard!

This next very long paragraph is pretty much just a chance for me to vent. I've got soome stuff I need to say. Here we go. =]

I cannot for the life of me figure out why some people can't live up to their obligations. There are certain things in life that you need to take responsibility for. For example, YOUR CHILDREN. With life comes duties. And with duties, comes responsibility. If you can't man up & take responsibilty for you actions, or lack there of, do NOT go blaming other people. And most of all, do not try to bring others down with you. It's no one's fault but your own. Sorry 'bout your luck! Maybe you should have thought things through a little bit. I mean what was gonna happen?? You can't bring in new 'people' to live with your family. And how could you not know that things were final?? I know court systems are ALL ABOUT some paperwork. Paperwork = Signatures. Lots of them. So, pretty much I was just fed a bunch of crap. Grow up, do what you should have done for the last almost 10 years, and move on. The sooner, the better. We don't need you..we have better people in our lives and we have made it JUST FINE with nothing from you. Not so much as even a birthday card, showing up for my wedding, graduations, Christmas presents, NOTHING. And you know what?? I think we are better because you are not in our lives to make us miserable. I love my family the way it is now. We have stuck together through thick & thin, and we will always be close because of it. Yeah, we could have had nicer things, or lived in nicer places.. but I don't care. I was raised by a wonderful woman who taught us good morals & taught us how to do things for ourselves & not to depend on others to do things for us. She also taught us the most important lesson. Love. No matter what happened, our little family always came first. Then the day finally came when our family grew. We had a real DAD. Someone who was kind & loving, would do fun things with us..not for his own benefit, but to make us happy. Someone who would get up at any hour of the night to help us. And someone who has a wonderful family that took us into their hearts and have never let us down. They don't expect anything in return, just that we respect & love them as well. No thank you cards, or pay-backs..Nothing. Just love. I don't know what more we could ask for!! I am very happy with the way my life has gone..and it all started getting better in the summer of 2000.

Sorry if I bored yall with that mess. I just had to get it off my chest. Love yall.. be careful.. it's raining outside.

This is cool! I can even blog from my BlackBerry!! I love technology!!

Just Starting To Blog

Hey to all our family & friends! I finally decided to get into the blog stuff. Hopefully I can keep up with it!! Matt & I are FINALLY settled in our new home!! It actually looks like civilized people live here now. Not just clutter bugs!! I am so happy with the house too. Now that everything is going the way it is supposed to, it is a lot less stressful! The first week, I was about to go crazy!! There was SO much stuff to do, and it seemed like everytime something was repaired, another thing broke. Awful. But we are slowly but surely getting everything put away and organized. We plan to have everyone over soon!!
Work is going great too. Matt is back to work at night on patrol. No more desk duty!! So, we are both on the same schedule once again. I couldn't be happier. It was so depressing when he was on light duty. We would pass each other going to & from work most days! You never know how much you love someone until you o from spending EVERY day with them, to almost no time with them. It was rough!! But everything is fine now. He is back to stopping cars & finding the bad guys. My side of the radio is going good too. The girls I work with are the best teammates ever! We have our ups & downs, but overall we have fun together. I have been working 911 over 2 years now. I love the work too! It's always something new. Never the same day twice! Yeah, we take some sad or upsetting calls. But the ones that are positive, or even change someones life for the better make everybad call seem worth the while. I love it.

For those of you that haven't met Teddy yet, he is our new baby. He is of the Papillon breed and is a little over a year old. He is the best dog I've had since Bandit was in our lives! Teddy is well behaved, spoiled, house trained, sweet and small! What more could we ask for?? He is beautiful too! Emma likes him..she calls him "Tey Bear". He runs from her, but I'm not too sure I blame him!! She can be pretty wild!! We got Teddy from a friend from work. They were moving and couldn't keep him so we decided to bring him into our home. My family came over this past Sunday. They helped us put the living room together. Some enjoyed it more than others! Jason and Austin helped some and then resorted to playing old school Nintendo games on our Wii. Emma played with "Tey Bear" and then got tired and decided to watch Calliou on TV. It is one of her favorite shows Mom says. It was nice having them over. We don't get to see them much anymore now that they live so far away! I keep telling Mom that they should move to Adairsville too. Maybe one day she will give in! =]

I am off to bed now! I should have been asleep a long time ago, but this is kind of addicting. And the pictures were giving me a hard time. Hope it turns out okay!! Love all of yall. =]
